PCGA Open - Heron Lakes

PCGA OPEN - Heron Lakes

Matt Waters shot a final round 66.1 to claim his 1st PCGA Major Title and his 1st PCGA Event at Heron Lakes Country Club Saturday.  Waters, along with only 3 other golfers broke par for the day.  "It was a long day for golf" said one as they entered the clubhouse.  Rain delayed and saturated an already wet back nine.  Frank Liley carded a 70.4 for 2nd, Van McInnis shot 70.9, finished 3rd and Ron Walsh finished 4th with a 71.8 net.

McInnis took over the points race, 344, after 6 events.  Kevin Phillips dropped to 2nd with 322, Kipp Bedford moves to 3rd with 327. Denny Mecsko, 321, and Keith Action Jr, 315, round out the top 5.  Good stuff.

Liley recorded his 4th 2nd place finish.  Congrats.  Tied for 2nd in that category.

Keith Roberts hit it close on the front nine to claim the cash, $20 that is.  Tom Ferritto, in back to back months, hit it close on the back nine to claim the 8 valuable race points.  Tom Emmons still leads the race for the most closest with 3.  Ferritto is only 1 back.

Money Title?  Getting close.  You know, it is still too early to talk about this!

Waters was the low man of the day with a 78.    That gives the PCGA another golfer in the Mr.79 or better club!!!!  3 golfers, 3 scores below 80, in 6 events.  Practice anyone?

Next up for the PCGA

The PCGA returns to Magnolia Grove for the 2nd time this year in August.  We will tee it up on the Crossing this time.  Falls was our first tournament of the year.  Trey Atkins will be looking to claim the Magnolia Grove sweep by winning again, this time on the Crossings.  Looking forward to a great golf course.
